Highway Clean-up

Twice-a-year, TCNA volunteers help to keep the canyon looking clean by spending a few hours clearing litter from the highway between the west mouth of the canyon (mile marker 257) and the east horseshoe curve (mile marker 271). That is 28 miles round trip. Sometimes, we are lucky enough to be able to cover most of these miles twice-a-year. We provide water, a snack, and a safety vest. We can always use more people to help with this project. The Department of Transportation provides the bags and picks up the trash on the following Monday. We are grateful for their assistance.

Annual Summer Picnic and Firewise Day

This is our gathering for permanent and summer residents. The location is the Rio Fernando Fire Department upper firehouse. TCNA provides hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks. More food is provided by board members and residents. We give our annual reports and have an election of board members. We present speakers who talk about canyon interests. There is time to visit with neighbors and catch up on the latest news. We also help to raise money for the Rio Fernando Fire Department with a small raffle of donated prizes. It is a fun way to spend a canyon afternoon. We hope that you will attend all events and make suggestions for future gatherings. We are always looking for fresh ideas.

Multiple Dumpster Days
NOTE: This service has been suspended as of September 10, 2019! -- The Taos County Solid Waste Department (TCSWD) provides large dumpster bins for canyon residents to help keep our properties clean. Most types of waste are accepted - EXCEPTION: NO HAZARDOUS WASTE will be accepted. View Rules There are usually a few TCSWD employees on hand to help with unloading vehicles and trailers. TCNA provides lunch for the TCSWD employees. We are grateful for their participation. This has been very successful.

We look forward to your participation in all the activities the TCNA provides.
